「桧皮葺」を用いた照明建築家と桧皮葺師のコラボレーションにより誕生した照明プロダクトです。繊細な素材を用いて優美な曲面を描くことができる桧皮葺の特徴を活かし、神社仏閣の屋根を想起させる造形としています。国宝・重要文化財に使用される桧皮葺の屋根工事で発生する未利用材を活用した、サスティナブルかつラグジュアリーなデザインです。格式高い存在である桧皮葺を日々の暮らしの中にそえることで、日本の伝統美を身近に感じることができるプロダクトです。

Lighting made with hiwadabuki,
a traditional Japanese roofingA lighting product born from the collaboration of an architect and a hiwadabuki master. Making use of the technique’s ability to form beautiful curves from delicate materials, it evokes the roofs of Shinto shrines and Buddhist temples. It uses unused materials generated from hiwadabuki roof work on national treasures and important cultural properties, creating a sustainable yet luxury design. By bringing this prestigious craft into daily life, it offers a way to experience the beauty of Japanese tradition up close.

桧の樹皮を成型した材料を使って施工する日本古来の屋根葺工法。国宝・重要文化財の神社仏閣の屋根に多く見られ、屋根葺工法の中で最も格式の高い技法である。桧の立木から樹皮だけを採取するサスティナブルな工法は世界からも注目を集めている。 2020年に、ユネスコ無形文化遺産に登録された日本独自の伝統技術である。Hiwadabuki :
An ancient Japanese roofing method using shaped cypress bark. Commonly seen on the roofs of shrines and temples designated as National Treasures or Important Cultural Properties, it is considered the most prestigious roofing technique. The sustainable method of harvesting only the bark from standing trees has gained international attention. In 2020, it was inscribed on UNESCO’s Intangible Cultural Heritage list.

占部将吾と西島要による建築家ユニット。ホテルや集合住宅、インテリアやプロダクトなど規模の大小や用途を問わず様々なプロジェクトを手掛けている。SORIのデザインチームとして佐藤元樹が参画し、日本の伝統的な建築文化を新たな形で継承することを目標に活動している。
An architectural unit led by Shogo Urabe and Yo Nishijima. They work on a wide range of projects from hotels and apartment complexes to interiors and products regardless of scale or function. As part of the SORI design team, Genki Sato participates in the pursuit of reinterpreting and carrying forward Japan’s unique architectural culture in new forms.

創業 天保年間(1830年代)。日本の伝統的な屋根技術工法である桧皮葺を中心とした社寺等屋根工事業に従事し、主に西日本を中心とした国宝・重要文化財の修復を行っている。代表の佐々木真は、山口県内唯一の桧皮葺師。近年では、国宝 瑠璃光寺五重塔の桧皮葺屋根葺き替え工事にも携わっている。
Founded in the Tenpo era (1830s). Specializing in hiwada-buki, a traditional Japanese cypress bark roofing technique, the company undertakes roof construction for temples and shrines, focusing mainly on the restoration of national treasures and important cultural properties in western Japan. President Makoto Sasaki is the only certified hiwada-buki craftsman in Yamaguchi Prefecture. In recent years, the company has also been involved in re-roofing the hiwada-buki roof of the National Treasure Rurikoji Five-Story Pagoda.
